#1 & #2 Seeds Knocked Out Early

The previously undefeated Team 2 Bayhawks and the #2 Seed Lizards were both knocked out of 1st place contention Sunday.  This sets up the A Bracket Championship game between the Team 8 Machine and the Team 7 Nationals, a rematch from week 3 which the Nationals won by a score of 6-4.

In the B Bracket, the top two seeds (Team 1 Outlaws and Team 6 Hounds) advanced to the B Bracket Championship, also setting up a rematch from Week 6 where the Outlaws stunned the Hounds with a 7-6 come from behind victory. Game Highlights from week 7 are below:

GAME 1-The Bayhawks were a little shorthanded, missing some key players, and the impact was evident in the 9-3 loss.  The Machine cranked out an efficient offensive attack all game long, and the Bayhawks D couldnt seem to keep track of the cutters.  6 different players combined on the 9 Machine Goals, and they look pretty solid heading into the Championship game on the 18th.

GAME 2-This was definitely the Game of the Day.  Team 4 Lizards jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, as Austin Miller added another Hat Trick to his season early in the game, and it looked like the Lizards were gonna roll in this one.  But Adam Stockford notched the first of his two goals to get the Nationals on the board, and the Lopez brothers hammered in 3 more by halftime (including a nice FO win/left handed hipside blast by Alex), and the score was tied 4-4 at half.  The 2nd half was back and forth early, but Joe Hinton put the nail in the coffin, after the Nationals D killed an EMO opportunity, by going coast to coast with the long pole and notching the 8th goal for the Nationals.  Miller couldnt be stopped from whistle to whistle, as he put in a couple more 2nd half goals to lead all scorers with 5, but it wasnt enough to overcome Alex Lopez's hat trick, and a very efficient game from the Nationals on all sides of the ball.  7 different players scored for the Nationals, who won by a 10-7 margin, and set up an exciting Championship match for November 18th.

GAME 3-After a rough 0-3 start to the season, the Outlaws have bounced back.  Games have been close, but they climbed back to .500 Sunday with a 10-4 win over the Team 3 Cannons, who they tied in Week 4.  A balanced and relentless attack on goal, despite another excellent game from Cannons goalie Gavin Risbry, gives the once hapless Outlaws a chance at the B Bracket Championship on 11/18.  EIGHT different players chipped in on the scoring, and the Defense was sturdy.  Matt Seligson contributed a pair of goals for the Cannons.

GAME 4-Game 4 was in hand for the Team 6 Hounds from the early stages.  Sam Marks kicked off the scoring with 2 of the first 3 for the Hounds, and they never trailed.  Major props go to the Team 5 Rattlers though, who played the entire game with only 10 players, choosing to play it out with who they got, rather than forfeit and play with a mixed team.   Will Kittler kicked off the scoring for the Rattlers, and Bruno Geoly, back from a recent injury, had a fantastic game in goal with over a Dozen saves.  But the legs, and the spark ignited by Brooks Bain on a Coast to Coast score with the LongPole, was too much.  Sam Marks finished with a Hat Trick, Sam Isola led all scorers with 4 goals (and an almost perfect Faceoff %), and Matt Ford had a pretty solid game in the goal for the Hounds, who won it 10-3.  The Hounds pick up some momentum of their own heading into the B Bracket Championship game, a rematch with the Outlaws, that should be pretty exciting.

Thanks again to all the players who made it a great Playoff Weekend, and we look forward to seeing you out for Championship Sunday on November 18th!!
