No Slow Down in Week 5 after one week rest

Some great stuff on the Paly field again this past Sunday in Week 5 of Fall Ball sponsored by Team NorCal Lacrosse.  The playoff divisions between A and B seem to have gotten clearer.  But there is still room for plenty of shuffling as Week 6 looks to be a significant week for a few teams and where they end up in the playoff bracket.

Week 5 gave plenty of Highlights, and set the stage for next weeks action:

GAME 1-This one was the most exciting game of the day.  The Team 1 Outlaws jumped to a lead in the first half but the Team 5 Rattlers, with a roster depleted by injuries, courageously fought back in and tied it 4 to 4 with six minutes to go.  The Outlaws pulled ahead 5-4 with 1:45 left in the game and it looked like they were going to bring home the W in regulation.  But with 5 seconds on the clock the Rattlers scored to make it 5 to 5!  A quick conference among players, coaches, referees...and everyone agreed a 4 minute overtime was in order.  Defense was tight in OT, both teams had their chances.  It looked like Sudden Death was looming, but as the clock wound down, the Outlaws put the exclamation point on their first win by scoring the gamewinner with just 15 seconds left!  Great goaltending in this one.  Possible rematch looming in the upcoming playoffs.

GAME 2-Team 6 Hounds put up a valiant effort on this one, led by 2 goals from Ben Hastings.  But the Team 2 Bayhawks were too much, and brought a consistent and balanced attack to win the game 11-4.  Seven different Bayhawks scored, led by Jonny Glaziers Hat Trick.

GAME 3-Another valiant effort by the Team 3 Cannons here, but the Team 8 Machine was relentless and would not be denied a decisive victory.  Cannons Goalie Gavin Risbry had another solid game with a dozen saves, but too much offensive attack and too many shots on the doorstep.  Parker Whims and Ed Ruby had 5 goals each to lead the Machine, who finished with a 17-2 victory.

GAME 4-This was a game I anticipated would be the best of the day.  Fortunately for them, the up-and-down offense of the Team 4 Lizards was up on Sunday, and they jumped out to a 7-2 lead by halftime.  The Team 7 Nationals did make a game of it in the 2nd half, scoring 3 goals, but the Lizards kept answering back, and cruised to a 9-5 victory.  Andrew Seaman and Anthony Chadwick led all scorers, each with a Hat Trick.  Austin Miller scored a couple, but saw his 4 game Hat Trick Streak come to an end.

Great job to all, and I look forward to seeing everyone out there on the 28th!
