High School Elite Players Attract Attention from College Scouts

Team NorCal Elite went a Mile High to the Denver Shootout June 15-17th, and left with a 4-1 record, losing only to eventual Champions Claremont from Canada.  A Win over Dallas Select (perrennial D1 recruiting source, Denver Shootout Finalists the past 2 years) was a highlight of the seedings round, which saw TNC Elite finish 3-0.  A controversial seeding process saw us recieve a 2nd seed from our bracket, which matched us against the best team in the tourney for the first round of the playoffs.  The guys played well, but the Claremont team was a well oiled machine, with solid players, mostly 2012 grads, who had been playing together for years.  A loss meant a pairing against Team Centennial (Cherry Creek HS based Team, ranked #18 Nationally in Max Preps Season End Computer Rankings).  The D dominated this one, helping the Elite squad to a 5-1 victory to close out the tournament.

Some Additional Highlights were:

Joe Rodrigues (3a) and Henry Armistead (1g) were selected to play in the 2014 All Star Game, and Max Krieg and Eric Stagg (1g) in the 2013 All Star Game.  JRod led all players in points in the 2014 game with his 3 assists, including a nice pass to Henry who finished for his goal.  Eric Stagg also played well, and had a big blast on a rocket shot from outside in the game.  Eric and Joe got writeups in Inside Lacrosse, which you can read in full at the following link: http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2012/06/17/recruiting-roundup-3d-lacrosse-denver-shootout-standouts

It was also great to see many of our players attract attention from college coaches and recruiters, including a half dozen of the guys mentioned/asked about by solid D1 and D3 schools like North Carolina, Stonybrook, Air Force, Michigan, Marquette, Salisbury, etc.

Players should be proud of their performance, it set the stage for a great July!!

Go Team NorCal!!
